Cape progress!

This is the cape that is taking me years to make... I finally did the welt pockets and the buttonholes. I would give the welts a 7/10, they aren't perfect but they are decent.
Close-up of the awesome buttons:
I found my receipt from Mood when I was cleaning, each button was 4.50. I really like them, they remind me of the desert, like the way earth cracks when it's really dry.
I slapped together a beige half slip two nights ago, another instant gratification project.
I bought this on sale at Hancock yesterday. I really like all the tiny tucks on the bodice. Now, if I can find a fabric I like for it...

  1. I love the buttons! Sometimes the buttons can make or break an outfit, and those really make it look expensive!

  2. Gorgeous buttons! I agree, they're a lovely finishing touch. What's left to do on the cape?

  3. Sew in the horrible lining by hand. I did about 2 feet of the bottom last night and then got discouraged...

  4. It looks gorgeous! I'm not a big fan of handwork myself...I admire the 2 hours you already accomplished!

  6. Your cape is gorgeous and the buttons are perfect and worth the cost...I love the dress pattern when I first saw it I thought it was a vintage pattern! Use a light weight fabric that isn't too busy of a print so you can see the tucks when it is finished!
