On a whim, I bought this fabric yesterday at Jo-Ann. It kind of looks like feathers with a watercolor effect. I bought two yards and then came back and dug through my pattern mountain to see if anything looked good.
So feel free and tell me which one to use. All of them need about 2 yards of fabric, so they are all possibilities.
1- Vintage Simplicity with scallops2- Vogue with nice midriff piece that is covered by her stupid belt
3- Vogue might break up the print too much
4- Vogue with lots of tiny waist pleats and a blousy back. I really like this one, but it is meant to be made out of a sheer fabric.
5- Simplicity yellow view
6- Sewaholic skirt b
7- Butterick with the short sleeves and either skirt
I am leaning towards 4 or 7, but tell me what you think! I'm currently making another Alma blouse, so I don't need to decide THIS MINUTE or anything.
So, c'mon- boss me around!
I think number 3 would look great! I love the back detail.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on 4. I think that would be great with the fabric and the style could be dressed up or down.
ReplyDeleteI kinda like #2, but maybe that shape would work better with a slightly stiffer fabric? Looks like your fabric has some drape to it? So then i think my vote would be for #1 or #4.
ReplyDeleteBefore even reading your comments I was drawn to #4. Stick with your first instinct!
ReplyDeleteI first thought number 3 but then you may be right about all of those pieces. I like 2 a lot, a simple shape to show off the pretty fabric.
ReplyDeleteI'm throwing my vote in for #3. I think that the back would work really well with the fabric design.
ReplyDeleteI'll vote for 7, it'll look awesome!
ReplyDelete#4 or #5
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see this as #5...gorgeous fabric!!!
ReplyDeleteI love number 2 and the last butterick - number five. I think the fabric is great.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is #3, with #5 as the 2nd choice, and then finally #4. With #3, I think the print would actually look great, and add a cardigan or jacket, and it would be great in your fall weather that will be here before you know it.
ReplyDeleteWow thanks ladies! I went to work and came back to tons of advice! I have more thinking to do...
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes to #7! It's lovely! Either that or #1 - but I love vintage patterns so I'm always going to be drawn to those!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of fabric is it? How thick, what drap etc?
ReplyDeleteIt's some kind of poly blend with a medium drape, not too flimsy, not very stiff.
DeleteDefinitely #4. Best pattern for a fabric with drape, and the fabric itself will be lovely in this shape.
