Fall Fun!

On Saturday, we went off into northern Illinois and went apple picking and selected our own pumpkins. First we went to get some apples...
Andrew could reach the apples at the very top that everyone else couldn't reach.
I am always making such evil faces.
It was a very nice day out, sunny and maybe 60 out.
Then we went to pumpkin patch because I was determined to choose my own pumpkin. There were many choices. So hard to decide.
Andrew got a normal one and I got a very small one and a very huge one.
Baby on board! My 45 lb monster (about 15 bucks) needed to be safely secured!

So now we will be making a lot of apple-related food as well as zucchini, since they had enormous ones for a dollar. One is enough to make sure that every dinner this week has zucchini in it. Hahaha. It was a fun adventure!

Exciting News!

Andrew has accepted a job offer in Chicago and we will be moving in June! I am starting my job hunt now, and it's both exciting and scary. We have lived in New Orleans for almost nine (9!!!) years and I know I will miss the city. Chicago can be a new phase in our lives and will definitely provide both of us will greater career opportunities! I lived in Chicago briefly after Hurricane Katrina because my college was closed for a semester so I know a tiny bit about the city and Andrew has visited, too.

Any fun facts about Chicago, or does anyone want to offer me a job teaching high school history or geography?

I'm excited!

In the Works

I tried to make some knock-off Girl Scout Samoa cookies. They turned out very "meh" and Andrew and I both did not like them much. So, I took them to school and gave them to my 7th period for being so good lately and doing all their homework. The kids liked them!
It is a shortbread cookie dipped in chocolate, with caramel and coconut on top.

I am nearly done with my Pendrell blouse in yellow striped seersucker. I am waiting for Andrew to get home and tell me if the second ruffle on the shoulders makes me look like a linebacker.
My military dress is almost finished! Finally! I could have sworn I bought ten buttons, but I could only find eight. I need to go buy two more soon. More details when it is honestly and truly finished.

Here's little baby T-Rex when he was sick. Now he's on pills and is way, way better!
Any new projects in your world? Have a good week!

Sick Day

I felt horrible yesterday, so I got a sub and went to the doctor. Apparently I have strep throat and an ear infection, gross.

So all I did today was go to the doctor, get my pills, sleep until 1:30 pm and then sit on the sofa with the dog all day. With the heat cranked up.

I did sew down the neck facing for Stephanie's dress and hand-pick the zipper. I might hem it, but I also might go to bed at 7.

Anyone like my new background for the blog? I think it's really cool!

I'm also very excited to have almost 200 followers- only five to go! I reminded Andrew that we never went to a nice dinner to celebrate 100 followers, so we will go to two dinners. Hopefully one will be celebrating a (hopefully good) job offer that he is supposed to get at the end of January! Cross your fingers for us, it will be an exciting move!

I have about 8 cute vintage patterns that I know I will never make, because they are not my size. The joys of small boobs- I can buy 32 bust patterns and not grade them, so I know I'll never learn. Look for a giveaway when I reach 200!! Whoo hoo!
