Here is my pattern, Butterick 6647. Bust 30, size 12. It looks late 40s- early 50s to me, but I didn't try to date it exactly. I sincerely dislike the skirt ( not a good look for my giant calves) and the jacket is meh. I made the red blouse, the afterthought in the corner.
I bought the fabric at Jo-Ann's on sale. It is some kind of poly blend with black and beige dots on a white background. It has kimono sleeves, too. I really like it, especailly with my balck skirt I just made.
Anyways, thoughts? I think it looks nice- vintage pattern, but not too "vintage-y."
I like it a lot, and I agree with you...definitely vintage-feel rather than than vintage-y, which can be uncomfortable to wear. I've been trying to find more blouses like that but not much luck.
ReplyDeleteI really like the button look down the side, I think it adds a nice vintage touch (I know zips were used a lot but somehow buttons always seem more uniquely vintage to me.)
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely and fits you beautifully. I love how the shoulder tucks make it look. I have to say, though, I'd be tempted to wear it with stripper shoes or a wide red at the high waist just to break up the quiet respectability of it...
ReplyDeleteWhat do I think? I just love it! I especially love the side closure with buttons - so special.
ReplyDeleteI second comments above - love the buttons! And again your constant output is really inspiring!! Every project it gets a little easier, a little faster.
ReplyDeleteThe buttons are so cute! It looks more vintage-feel than vintagey, other than the button which are straight up vintagey, it looks great though!
ReplyDeleteI love it! It is perfect; the fabric, the pattern and the fit, very flattering! GREAT JOB.
